Hearty Salisbury Steak with Creamy Mushroom Gravy

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Make the Patties
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Mix gently until just combined, then shape into four oval patties.
  2. Cook the Patties
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, until well browned and mostly cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Gravy
In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the mushrooms and onion and cook for 5–6 minutes, until softened and lightly browned.
Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Sprinkle in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Let simmer gently until the gravy thickens.
  4. Finish the Dish
Return the patties to the skillet, spoon the gravy over them, cover, and simmer for 8–10 minutes, until the patties are fully cooked.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
